Our Family

Our founding partner, Melvin Laub, was the son of immigrants whose humble beginnings motivated him to achieve greatness. In the beginning, Melvin Laub moved his family of six into a two bedroom cabin. Despite difficulties and early setbacks, he continued to work relentlessly with integrity and passion for people and his community. With the support of his wife through college and law school, Mevin Laub was able to establish the successful and longstanding firm of Laub & Laub in 1965.

His work ethic, commitment, and love of people continued to foster Melvin's success as an attorney. In 1989, Mr. Laub was joined by his son Joey and the firm grew from one secretary and one office to 25 employees and eight lawyers in four offices in two states. Mr. Laub succeeded the American way through perseverance, dedication, hard work, and refusing to take "no" for an answer.

A symbol of our roots

When Joey Laub was eight years old, his father took him to visit a tree planted by his grandfather, a man devoted to improving the world he lived in. Though he knew the impermanence of his life, he remained committed to cultivating the world around him. He wanted to leave this world a better place than he found it. The tree continued to grow so magnificently and became such a prominent landmark in the community that the City of Vallejo built the road around it, instead of cutting it down according to plan. The tree continues to mark the landscape as one of the largest, most remarkable trees in the entire city. Joey Laub continues to model his life and practice after his grandfather's philosophy. He has watched his practice flourish to provide his community with the same strength, protection, stability, and commitment to the improvement of life that his grandfather stood for.

The tree continued to grow into a beautiful landmark and became a symbol of strength, protection, life and hope. We believe that this tree also symbolizes the history of our family, our firm, our commitment, and the strength of our roots.

Joey Laub continues to operate the Law Firm of Laub & Laub with the dignified passion and philosophy established by the firm's family roots. With the continued support of his family, he is able to dedicate his time, experience, and love of people towards the betterment of his clients' lives and the Lake Tahoe and Reno area communities.
