Road rage leads to fatal accident in Nevada

Driving can be a stressful and sometimes aggravating activity, particularly when those who share the road are driving recklessly. Sometimes these frustrations boil over into incidents of road rage, with one driver purposefully acting aggressively out of anger targeted at another driver. However, road rage can be extremely dangerous, as one incident can show.

A Nevada man lost his life in an auto accident on Interstate 15 reportedly due to road rage on the part of another driver. The incident began when a motorist driving a Jeep SUV southbound on the inner lane of the interstate drove recklessly. Witnesses report that following that, a motorist driving a BMW M5 was driving in front of the Jeep and a motorist driving a Cadillac Escalade were engaged in aggressive driving because of road rage.

Reportedly, one of the Cadillac's passengers tossed a bottle in the direction of the Jeep. Following that, the motorist operating the Jeep tried to pass the BMW on the dirt shoulder of the inner median. At this point the Jeep hit the BMW. The force of the impact caused the BMW to be pushed over every lane on the interstate and onto the south shoulder, hitting an embankment. After that, the Jeep got back on the interstate and headed due south.

Unfortunately, the motorist of the Jeep failed to maintain control over the Jeep, causing it to spin around and go over the median into the opposite lane of traffic. At that time there was a Mini Cooper and a Nissan Pathfinder in the northbound lanes of the interstate. The Jeep and the Mini Cooper collided, and then the Nissan Pathfinder and the Mini Cooper collided.

Sadly, the driver of the Mini Cooper did not survive the crash. The person operating the Jeep was hospitalized with injuries that were life-threatening. The driver and passenger of the Nissan were hospitalized as well, but their injuries have been described as non-incapacitating. The driver of the BMW was not harmed in the crash. It has not been reported whether the person operating the Cadillac or his passenger were harmed.

Incidents like this are very sad, not just because they resulted in a man's death, but because they never should've happened in the first place. Road rage is a form of reckless driving and those who are injured or killed due to an act of road rage may want to determine if they can pursue a legal filing.
