College basketball player charged with DUI

It is not unusual for college students in Reno and across Nevada to drink alcohol. While there is nothing overtly wrong with drinking if they are over 21, some will make the mistake of getting behind the wheel of a car. This can result in a traffic stop and an arrest for driving under the influence. Those facing DUI charges should be aware of the necessity of legal representation, as a conviction can hinder their driving privileges, their freedom and their standing in school. A law firm that handles DUI is crucial.

A college basketball player at the University of Nevada Reno was arrested for DUI. He is also alleged to have caused property damage ranging between $200 and $5,000.

A DUI conviction goes beyond the lost driving privileges, fines and jail time. Personal and professional problems can follow the person around for a long time. When confronted with all of these potential challenges, having a legal defense is vital to try and mitigate the consequences or even obtain an acquittal. Possible defenses could be that the driver was not legally under the influence. The traffic stop could have been done in violation of the law. Or, there could be a viable defense to have the charges dismissed. When concerned about the future and how the DUI can be harmful, a lawyer is imperative.

If you have been charged with DUI, you should contact a law firm that has experience in defending clients charged with DUI. A criminal defense is key and should not be ignored.
